Julie Kiefer has spent most of her life making living art: sewing clothes for her three kids, making quilts to keep family cosy, planting an English garden in her backyard. Making has always been central to Julie's way of caring for others.

With Coiled Souls Studios, Julie hand-builds sculptures using the coiling technique, shaping each into figures that are meant to hold living plants. Many of her pieces mark something: a birth, a loss, a season of life worth remembering. The result is something that feels personal and alive, because it is.
